The sequel brings the story 3 years after the tragic ending we witnessed in season 1, with Go Yoon-jung as the new female lead. As Jang Uk becomes a hunter of the soul-shifters, a young woman, a prisoner in her own home,seeks his help to reclaim her freedom. (I'm biased and I personally liked season 2 mroe than season 1 so we're going to build this page on season 2.)
Episode 1 of Alchemy of Souls Season 2 starts with suppliers arriving to bring liquor for Jinyowon's ritual rites. It's been 3 years since we followed our characters and Cho-yeon is looking as beautiful as ever. She mesmerises one of the traders who decides to drink his liquor. Episode 1 ends with Dang-gu drowning in his sorrows after finding out about Cho-yeon's wedding, while Jang Uk stays back to talk to Park Jin about the stone inside him.
Episode 2 begins with Jang Uk taking away his runaway bride to the Jang family house, unaware that an ominous creature is following the two. While Bu-yeon pries into his past, Cho-yeon and Ho-kyung as flustered after she goes missing as the former thinks it is Park Dang-gu who did this..
Bu-yeon makes her way back to the Jang household once again while everyone is shocked by the news of their secret wedding. Meanwhile, Bu-yeon tries to use her powers on the lantern once again, only to fail which makes her think that it was Jang Uk who used his powers to turn off the lantern.
